Frequently asked questions

01
What vaccinations are required?+
💉 Vaccination Records Required: Rabies + Distemper or Parvo Virus
02
Can I stay during the grooming?+
For safety and focus, we do not allow owners to stay during the grooming session.
03
How does Kokoni ensure a safe and calm environment for every dog?+

We use clean, individual kennels to safely separate dogs when needed. Based on our experience, this helps reduce the risk of disease transmission, prevents dog fights, and ensures overall safety.

At the same time, we focus on one-on-one grooming to minimize stress. Appointments are carefully scheduled to reduce waiting time and avoid unnecessary kennel use. Our goal is to provide a calm, safe, and structured environment where each dog feels secure and well cared for.

04
What if my dog is aggressive?+
For safety reasons, we reserve the right to stop grooming if a dog poses a safety risk to themselves or our staff.
05
Do you groom senior or anxious dogs?+
Yes. We work patiently and gently. Please inform us of any health conditions so we can adjust the grooming process accordingly.
06
How many dogs do you groom per day?+
We limit the number of appointments each day to maintain quality and provide a calm environment.
07
How do you maintain cleanliness?+
All tools and grooming areas are sanitized between each dog to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
08
What is Simply Cute (Everyday) Style?+
A shorter, easy-maintenance cut keeps your dog fresh and tidy without daily brushing. Regular visits prevent mats and keep grooming stress-free — all while staying budget-friendly. With Simply Cute, your dog stays safe, healthy, clean, and simply cute.
09
I can't decide which style. Can you help me?+
Of course! Every dog is unique, and our job is to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and happy with a look that fits their lifestyle. We're happy to recommend the best grooming style based on your dog's coat type, age, skin condition, behavior, and how often you'd like to groom at home.

Whether we go with a stylish Asian Fusion trim or a comfort-focused Simply Cute look, we'll work together to make sure your furry friend leaves feeling great — inside and out. 💕 If you're not sure which style is best, email or text us anytime — we're happy to help! 📩🐾

How does Simply Cute differ from Asian Fusion Grooming?+

Simply Cute focuses on comfort, health, and easy everyday care. It keeps the coat short to reduce stress, prevent irritation, and make regular grooming more affordable and enjoyable — perfect for puppies, senior dogs, anxious pups, and those with sensitive skin.

Asian Fusion Grooming is more artistic and detailed, with cute round faces and a stylish finish. It requires longer grooming sessions and more frequent brushing at home to keep the look fresh. It's ideal for dogs who love a creative, fashion-forward style.

Both are beautiful and done with love — the difference is the level of styling vs. comfort that best fits your dog's needs.

11
What is Asian Fusion (Japanese) Grooming Style?+
Asian Fusion grooming is creative, detailed, and artistic — designed to highlight your dog's cutest features with precise shaping, round faces, and a stylish finish. It's perfect for pet parents who love that "wow" factor and are comfortable with more frequent brushing and maintenance at home to keep the look fresh.
12
What makes us different?+

For us to provide this fancy artistic cute look, providing a good bath & blow out becomes very important. We hand-dry them & straighten out the coat (yes, just like humans) fluff them up to give some volume to its coat. That way, we can create that perfect round muzzle, round face & ears.

But beyond the scissors and styling, what truly sets us apart is our heart. We genuinely love and care for every dog that comes through our door — they're not just clients, they're family. We take the time to understand each dog's personality, comfort level, and needs, because a happy, relaxed pup is always the most beautiful one.

13
How long do you keep our pooch?+
We are a drop-off service. We ask owners to give us about 3–4 hours for bath & haircut (doodles and larger breeds could be longer) and about 1.5–2.5 hours for bath only. If de-matting is involved, please ask for an estimate. If you need them back faster, please ask for a straight-through service — we only provide this on the first appointment slot.
14
Can you groom my dog without kenneling?+
Yes, we call it a 'straight-through' appointment, but we can only offer this on our first appointment slot. The groomer can start right away when you drop off in the morning, then we'll call you 20 minutes before we finish so you can head back to our salon. Please keep in mind that if you don't come back right away, your dog will have to wait inside the kennel — so please stay nearby.
15
Can you groom matted dogs?+
It's hard to answer without seeing the condition of your dog. We can let you know at the time of drop-off whether the matting is brushable or not. Please remember that de-matting is an additional service. If the condition is really bad, we can only offer to shave it down very short (like a summer cut).
16
Do you have to use flea/tick shampoo if my pooch has fleas or ticks?+
YES. Normal shampoo does not kill the fleas or ticks on your pooch, so we HAVE to use flea/tick shampoo to prevent those insects from transferring to other clients' pets. There will be an additional charge of $15–$25 depending on size when we spot them. We usually call the owner to notify of the extra charge, but the flea charge is non-negotiable.
17
Can you just provide a haircut only? I recently bathed my dog at home.+
Sorry, we DO NOT offer a haircut-only service. Bathing and fluffing the coat are the MOST important part of the grooming process for groomers to create a cute, fluffy Japanese styling — so giving them a professional bath & fluff at the salon is required.
18
When is your last appointment?+
Please contact the store or check our online booking system for the latest appointment available for that day.
19
What should I do if I can't make it to the appointment?+
We do charge $30 for not showing up or last-minute cancellation. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to avoid the fee.
20
What if I can't pick up my dog before closing time?+
We understand things happen, but if we have tried contacting you multiple times and it has passed our closing time, we do charge a late pick-up fee of $1 per minute. If you are running behind, please contact our store immediately.
21
How should I prepare my dog for their first visit?+
Please ensure your dog has had a potty break before arrival. You are welcome to bring their favorite toy and treats — we will spend a little time together helping your dog feel comfortable and settled before grooming begins.
22
What if this is my puppy's first grooming?+

We take extra time to gently introduce puppies to the grooming process to ensure a positive first experience. There will be short breaks during the session to help your puppy feel comfortable and relaxed. Our goal is to build healthy, long-term grooming habits from the very beginning.

For the first grooming appointment, our priority is not perfection — it is creating a safe and positive experience. A beautiful haircut can come later. Building trust and comfort always comes first.

23
How do I maintain my dog's haircut at home?+
Regular brushing (2–3 times per week) helps prevent matting — daily brushing is even better, especially for longer or softer coats. We're happy to recommend the right brushes and show you how to properly brush at home to maintain your dog's coat between grooming appointments.
24
When should I book the next appointment?+
We recommend scheduling your next appointment at checkout to maintain your desired style. Ideally, full grooming should be scheduled every 6–8 weeks (about 1.5 months). In between grooming visits, we suggest bathing at home weekly, or bringing your dog in for a professional bath every 2 weeks to keep the coat clean, healthy, and fresh.
25
How do I book an appointment?+
Appointments can be made online or by text/phone. We recommend booking in advance, especially during busy seasons.
26
What is your cancellation policy?+
We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellation or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a $30 fee.
27
What happens if I am late?+
If you are more than 15 minutes late, we may need to reschedule to avoid disrupting other scheduled appointments. Please call us to let us know.
28
How much does grooming cost?+
Pricing varies based on breed, size, coat condition, and desired style. Final pricing is confirmed after evaluating your dog in person.
29
Why can't you give an exact price before the appointment?+
Every dog's coat condition and behavior are different. Matted coats, extra handling time, or special styling may require additional time and care.
30
Is there an extra charge for matted coats?+
Yes. De-matting requires additional time and careful handling to ensure your dog's comfort and safety.
